Chapter 12 – Claudia’s Version
A week later, Claudia posted her own account in a local community group.
She did not mention kicking the sign.
She wrote that she had been verbally intimidated by a man staging a “commercial-style proposal” on a crowded public beach.
She said she had asked only for normal access.
She said Daniel became aggressive.
She said several strangers “surrounded” her.
She said municipal officers “failed to take her concerns seriously.”
At the bottom she wrote:
Women should not be afraid to speak up when men become intimidating in public.
Sophie read it twice.
Then sent Daniel a screenshot.
He replied immediately:
She’s unbelievable.
Sophie did not answer.
Ten minutes later:
Please don’t respond to her.
Daniel:
I wasn’t going to.
Another minute.
But she’s lying.
Sophie:
I know.
Daniel:
Then why should she get to say this?
Sophie stared at the screen.
Because that was exactly how another argument could begin.
One reply.
Then another.
Then screenshots.
Then strangers choosing sides again.
She typed:
Because I don’t want her in this relationship for one more minute.
Daniel did not reply for almost an hour.
Then:
Okay.
