Mason Contacted Internal Affairs

Because Mason no longer trusted the entire department, he secretly contacted internal affairs.

He kept the information restricted and continued the investigation carefully.

Eventually, police caught the husband meeting with a corrupt police contact.

The two men were exchanging a folder.

Inside, investigators found bank records, names, payments and photographs.

The evidence connected the men to the financial operation.

Police arrested the husband.

However, Mason still had one major question.

Who else inside the department had helped him?

Another Officer Was Arrested

The investigation continued.

Eventually, police arrested another officer.

He had been monitoring the investigation and watching what Mason and the other detectives were doing.

Then investigators searched the officer’s apartment.

What they found there disturbed Mason more than anything else.

One wall contained photographs of detectives and investigators connected to the case.

Mason’s photograph sat in the center.

Underneath it, someone had written:

“He is getting too close.”

Mason stared at the wall.

Until that moment, he had believed the investigation was finally reaching its end.

Instead, he realized someone had been watching him.
