Kevin Finally Asked The Obvious Question

“Why don’t you just put them here?”

He pointed to a section of curb about fifteen feet farther down.

Everyone looked.

Melissa said:

“The truck sometimes skips that spot.”

Kevin replied:

“Have you tried?”

Melissa hesitated.

“Not recently.”

Eric laughed.

Melissa glared at him.

Kevin raised both hands.

“Okay. Nobody touch anybody’s garbage. Let’s test the spot next week.”

For some reason, everyone agreed.

The Next Thursday Became A Neighborhood Experiment

Melissa placed both bins fifteen feet away from Eric’s driveway.

Eric took a photo.

Kevin took a photo too, mostly because he found the whole situation funny now.

At 9:20 a.m., the garbage truck arrived.

It stopped.

The mechanical arm picked up both bins.

It emptied them.

Then moved on.

There was no problem.

Eric sent Melissa a message.

Looks like it worked.

She replied:

Yes.

A few minutes later:

Still shouldn’t have moved them onto my lawn.

Eric laughed when he read it.

He responded:

Still shouldn’t have blocked my driveway.

Melissa sent back:

Fair.
