Emily Was Horrified
People later assumed Emily must have secretly loved it.
She didn’t.
She rushed over immediately.
“Natalie! What did you DO?”
Natalie looked surprised by Emily’s reaction.
“She deserved it.”
“That doesn’t mean you do that!”
Susan was furious.
“I want her out.”
Daniel arrived.
“What happened?”
His mother pointed at Natalie.
“She poured wine on me!”
Natalie answered:
“After she wore white on purpose.”
Daniel looked at Emily.
For a moment, Emily felt like the entire wedding had stopped waiting for her to pick a side.
Her sister.
Or her mother-in-law.
She hated both options.
Daniel Wanted Natalie to Leave
He looked at Natalie.
“You need to go.”
Natalie stared at him.
“Seriously?”
“You poured wine on my mom.”
“And she’s dressed like your wife.”
Daniel replied:
“That’s not the same thing.”
Natalie looked toward Emily.
“Are you really okay with this?”
Emily answered:
“No. I’m not okay with any of this.”
Natalie looked hurt.
Susan looked angry.
Daniel looked exhausted.
And around them, dozens of guests were pretending not to listen.
