Daniel Did Not Cancel the Relationship
But he did cancel the wedding.
He told Megan:
“I don’t want to marry you today.”
She stared at him.
“So we’re done?”
“I didn’t say that.”
“You’re humiliating me in front of everyone.”
“I know.”
“My entire family is out there.”
“I know.”
“The venue is paid for.”
“I know.”
Megan started crying.
“Then what exactly are you doing?”
Daniel answered:
“Stopping us before we make a permanent decision while we’re realizing we disagree about what family means.”
Megan said that was ridiculous.
Her mother said it was cruel.
Some of Daniel’s relatives agreed with her.
Even his brother privately asked:
“Are you sure this isn’t something you could have talked through tomorrow?”
Daniel wasn’t sure.
That was the problem.
