The Argument Reached Both Families

Within fifteen minutes, everyone knew something was wrong.

Megan’s mother entered the bridal room.

Daniel’s brother followed him into a hallway.

The wedding coordinator kept asking whether the ceremony would still begin on time.

Megan’s mother thought Daniel was overreacting.

“She wanted a few photographs. That’s it.”

Daniel’s brother disagreed.

“It’s not about a photograph.”

Megan’s mother looked at him.

“Then what is it about?”

Daniel answered.

“It’s about how she sees my daughter.”

Megan appeared in the doorway.

“I have done everything for Lily for two years.”

Daniel nodded.

“And I’m grateful for that.”

“Then why are you acting like I’m some evil stepmother?”

“I’m not.”

“Yes, you are.”

Megan was crying now.

“I asked for five minutes of photos.”

Daniel’s mother finally spoke.

“No. You asked a child to step out of a picture because you didn’t consider her part of the family you were starting.”

The room went silent.
